"Let Them Flow"
36” x 32”
I wrote this poem recently because there have been so many hard things in the last several years. Grief isn’t just the loss of a loved one. It’s loss. Any kind of loss that cuts deeply and makes you consider life and choices and perspectives in a different light. I didn’t want to write about the sadness of it all, though. What seemed more important to me was not being alone in it. Being understood. And that understanding is hard to come by because no two situations are exactly alike. But it doesn’t have to be. The nature of grief is that once you’ve felt it, you can understand it more, and that becomes a great thing you have to offer.
